Yellow Notebook Press published the book Raising Roan: Humor Required by Lila Vilo, about the first five years of her son’s protests, observations, questions, and musings that drew a lot of laughter on Facebook.
About Raising Roan
Roan is a spicy American mix of Mexican, Irish, Native American, Lithuanian and German ancestry, and when it comes to his temperament and personality, there is nothing bland about him. Instead of announcing, “it’s a boy!” at his birth, it might have been more accurate for the midwife to say, “it’s a habanero pepper!”
Roan (age 4): Mama, the bad guy in my brain is telling me to eat my boogers. The good guy in my brain is pushing buttons on a machine to make me keep my hands out of my mouth.
Roan’s Father: I think he’s secretly being raised by another family in the middle of the night, because where else would he get this stuff?
